The second semester, which began in the Kyiv-based institutions promises more interesting lessons, as during the autumn and winter holidays, the teachers went to the Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University to learn something new to work with the student youth.
Svitlana Vasylenko
– a participant of the international project, Deputy Head on the Content and Research of IT in Education Laboratory, creatively adapted the materials of trainings and educational meetings in European Universities – partners of the international project “Modernization of Pedagogical Higher Education by Innovative Teaching Instruments” (MoPED) of the EU program Erasmus + KA2 – Development of Higher Education Capacity, No. 586098-EPP-1-2017-1-UA-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP, lead several events during the autumn and winter holidays.

October 29, 2018 for teachers of the Karbyshev specialized school №2, Podil, on October 30, 2018, for teachers of Gymnasium #136 held seminars “Using of the Phet.Colorado Platform to create Interactive lessons”. High school teachers, especially physicists, chemists, biologists, mathematicians and geographers, have emphesised the importance of simulators to better understand their students’ processes and features of nature and technology, the graphic construction of functions, the ability to create and complete research tasks online.

The workshop “Using the GoLabz platform to create interactive lessons”, held on November 1, 2018, was attended by teachers of Gymnasium #136 of the Dniprovskyi district, specialized school № 210 of Obolonskyi district, Secondary school №285 of Solomensky district, teachers of the Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University and the Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman. Participants learned about the features of the Go-Lab portal, which offers a large, structured collection of quality remote and virtual labs developed by experienced research institutes and IT professionals from all over the world. Teachers noted that with the help of these laboratories, students will be able to realize scientific experiments in a virtual environment, which is very useful for participation in the competitions of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and for improving the quality of secondary education. Using the proposed applications, teachers can create integral learning spaces for those who need help because of school failure or for additional subject learning. Teachers have the opportunity to share Graasp learning spaces that
they created independently or adapted from a large selection of suggested scenarios available for different subject areas and languages.

January 4, with the participation of teachers of secondary school № 93 of the Podilskyi district, a Round Table “Collaboration in the Go-Lab” was held. It used the materials of the training workshop Olga Dziabenko, a research scientist at Deusto University (Spain) “Collaboration to create research spaces for knowledge in the Go-Lab ecosystem”, which was held at the Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University in September 2018. In addition to getting acquainted with the Go-Lab portal instruments, the Inqury Learning Space (ILS) was created in the Graasp learning environment for the introduction of Inquiry Base Science Education to participants in the Round Table.

The participants of the Round Table were surprised by the capabilities of laboratories and applications, the level of their integration with other resources, analytical capabilities of this open resource. Participants of the Round Table expressed their desire to design and to use research-training environments in educational activities, work with creative and gifted students.

It contains a list of available virtual laboratories, applications that can be used to create research space, a set of research spaces available for use, and so on. The peculiarities of finding virtual laboratories on Phet.colorado.edu were demonstrated. Considerable attention was paid to familiarizing with the platform Graasp for the creation of Inquiry Learning Spaces. It is another component of the Go-Lab ecosystem. The study skills development and use of Inquiry Learning Spaces (ILS) using the Graasp Platform toolkit was considered.
