Report on the implementation of the tasks of the project «Modernization of Pedagogical Higher Education by Innovative Teaching Instruments» (MoPED) at the meeting of the Academic Board of the Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University

On November 29, 2018, a regular meeting of the Academic Board of the Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University was held. During the meeting, Nataliia Morze  – Vice-Rector on Informational Technologies, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine – Project Manager, presented the results of the project “Modernization of Pedagogical Higher Education by Innovative Teaching Instruments” (MoPED) of the EU Erasmus + KA2 Project – №586098-EPP-1-2017-1-UA-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP to the Academic Board. Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University is a member of this project from 15.10.2017 until 10.15.2018.

At the end of the meeting, the Academic Board of the Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University made a decision to accept the report on the implementation of the project’s tasks and agreed to involve the staff of the In-service Teacher Training Institute of the Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University in the project.

Series of the workshops for teachers and students of the Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University within the MoPED project

During November 2018, within the framework of the project “Modernization of Pedagogical Higher Education by Innovative Teaching Instruments” (MoPED) of the EU program Erasmus + KA2 – Development of Higher Education Capacity, No. 586098-EPP-1-2017-1-UA-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP were held a series of the workshops for teachers and students of the Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University. These trainings were presented by Viktoriia Vember, PhD, Associated Professor of Computer Science and Mathematics Department.

The workshop “Tools to organize inquiry-based learning” was held at the Faculty of Information Technology and Management of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University on November 7, 2018.

During the seminar, the participants got acquainted with the model of the implementation of Inquiry Based Learning, and tools to support it. Participants of the workshop reviewed the structure of the Go-Lab ecosystem, one of the components of which is the Go-Lab portal. It contains a list of available virtual laboratories, applications that can be used to create research space, a set of research spaces available for use, and so on. The peculiarities of finding virtual laboratories on Phet.colorado.edu were demonstrated. Considerable attention was paid to familiarizing with the platform Graasp for the creation of Inquiry Learning Spaces. It is another component of the Go-Lab ecosystem. The study skills development and use of Inquiry Learning Spaces (ILS) using the Graasp Platform toolkit was considered.

The training Inquiry Based Learning and tools for its support” for the 5th year students of specialty Pedagogy of Secondary Education (external form of education) was held at the Pedagogical Institute of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University on November 17, 2018. 10 students of the group PSOm-1-18-1.4z participated in the training, all of them are teachers of different subjects such as mathematics, computer science, byology etc.

As part of the training, students get acquainted with the model of Inquiry Learning Cycle, the peculiarities of the Inquiry Based Learning technology and tools for its support, in particular, eco-system Go-Lab. The participants familiarized themselves with the structure of the Go-Lab portal, the features of the virtual labs search on Phet.colorado.edu, and the Graasp platform for creating Inquiry Learning Spases (ILS). Students reviewed the methodology of using Inquiry Based Learning technology using ILS, features of creating ILS using the Graasp platform apps.

Consortium work-team meeting of MoPED project

November 14-15, 2018 within the framework of the project “Modernization of Pedagogical Higher Education by Innovative Teaching Instruments” (MoPED) of the EU Erasmus + KA2 Project – Development of the Capacity of Higher Education, No. 586098-EPP -1-2017-1-UAEPPKA2-CBHE-JP was held a regular coordinating meeting of MoPED participants. Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University is the partner of this project. The meeting took place in the South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K. D. Ushynsky, Ukraine. 

EU Universities were represented by Olga Dziabenko (Deusto University, Spain), Marios Papaevripidou (University of Cyprus, Cyprus) and Bartlomiej Gawel (AGH University of Science and Technology, Poland). Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University was represented by: Nataliia Morze – Vice-Rector on Informational Technologies, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine – Project Manager and Mariia Gladun – Senior Lecturer of Department of Computer Science and Mathematics of the Faculty of Information Technology and Management.

The meeting began with the greetings of Anton Ananiev – the Vice-rector of the South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K. D. Ushynsky, Ukraine. 

During the meeting, Nataliia Morze shared presentation “Methodological and Technical Design of the Innovative Class (Recommendations)”, where she presented research results of Ukrainian pedagogical education (visualizing the links between pedagogical tendencies, innovative technologies and participants of the educational process – students, teachers and lecturers). Nataliia Morze gave recommendations to the project participants on the methodological and technical design of the Innovation Classroom (ICR).

Also at the meeting were discussed such issues:

  • the development status of the ICR concept and roadmap, an external evaluation of the ICR concept;
  • presentation of the schedule and templates of the training by the EU partners in 2019,
  • discussing and approving the selection criteria for the participants of the training;
  • presentation and discussion of the concept of the training courses;
  • presentation of the plan of exploitation of the project results, 
  • presentation and discussion of the plan for the sustainable development of the project;
  • quality control and monitoring of project implementation;
  • dissemination and exploitation of project results;
  • preparation of the progress and financial reports;
  • doing tasks developed by NEAs, detail information on master classes.
