The workshop “The basics of STEM education. Modern technologies for inquiry based approach” was held at Boris Grinchenko Kyiv University in the framework of the international project “Modernization of Pedagogical Higher Education by Innovative Teaching Instruments” (MoPED) of the EU program Erasmus + KA2 – Development of Higher Education Capacity, No. 586098-EPP-1-2017-1-UA-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP on December 5, 2019. The seminar was attended by teachers, deputy directors and directors of secondary education institutions in Kyiv. This workshop was presented by Viktoriia Vember, PhD, Associated Professor of Computer Science and Mathematics Department.

During the seminar, the participants were introduced to the features of the modern STEM / STEAM education trend, the benefits of the STEM approach, got acquainted with the model of the implementation of Inquiry Based Learning, and tools to support it. Participants of the workshop reviewed the structure of the Go-Lab ecosystem, one of the components of which is the Go-Lab portal. It contains a list of available virtual laboratories, applications that can be used to create research space, a set of research spaces available for use, and so on. The peculiarities of finding virtual laboratories on Phet.colorado.edu were demonstrated. Considerable attention was paid to familiarizing with the platform Graasp for the creation of Inquiry Learning Spaces. It is another component of the Go-Lab ecosystem. The study skills development and use of Inquiry Learning Spaces (ILS) using the Graasp Platform toolkit was considered.
