On autumn holidays academic staffs of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University Morze Nataliia, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences, and Vasylenko Svitlana, Deputy Head on Content and Research of IT in Education Laboratory, led trainings for developing teachers’ digital competences within the project “Modernization of Pedagogical Higher Education by Innovative Teaching Instruments” (MoPED) of the EU program Erasmus + KA2 – Development of Higher Education Capacity, No. 586098-EPP-1-2017-1-UA-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP for teachers of specialized school Nr. 238 in Kyiv.
On October 31, a pedagogical team led by the Principal Tatiana Piatetska actively involved into the experience shared by the University of Deusto, Spain, working on a training course “Electronic Educational Resources for Implementing Inquiry-based Learning”. Teachers were familiarized with the concept of inquiry-based learning, the stages of a research, the stages of preparation for project activities, the features of STEM implementation, considered electronic educational resources for creating digital research environments, using Go-Lab portal and Graasp platform. Participants welcomed the use of embedded applications for virtual and remote experiments, the integration of Graasp with external resources, the role of users and the interaction between them.
On November 14, the training on storytelling in educational process took place, during which teachers updated their ideas on pedagogical technology of “Storytelling”, considered the possibilities of using storytelling in educational process, created their own digital stories, got accustomed with the use of comics in education and learned how to work with tools to create them.
The training on November 19 was designed to explain to the participants the concept of “formative assessment”, to identify benefits of formative assessment in comparison with traditional one, to learn about peer-to-peer assessment and digital tools for its implementation. The trainers offered to work with concept maps, QR code, Mentimeter, Kahoot, online boards and KWL-tables that were developed using digital tools.
The participants received new ideas on the implementation of innovative technologies in the educational process, acquired new professional skills, gained positive impressions and exchanged experiences.
